11/7/16 - ETG sub-group on New Entrants and NE Reserve in Phase 4
ETG's EU ETS Working Group formed a sub-group to consider issues in relation to New Entrants and the NE Reserve in Phase 4. Its discussions have resulted in a report in the form of a PowerPoint presentation which has been submitted to UK Government. To download the report

5/7/16 - BREXIT and continuing activity on the EU ETS
ETG's Chair has written to UK Government about the need for a continuing presence in the EU in relation to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) following the referendum result. To download a copy of the letter click here

25/4/16 - Carbon leakage issues in Phase 4 - small emitters
ETG has submitted an updated paper to UK Government on EU ETS carbon leakage issues requiring attention in Phase 4, which includes a section on small emitters. The paper represents the culmination of the ETG’s thinking so far. It is anticipated that there will be scope to develop further that thinking as the debate continues. 30/11/15 - ETG sends letter to Commission on NACE 4 issues
ETG has written to the European Commission to highlight concerns on NACE-4 code issues relating to the EU ETS Revision for Phase 4. NACE is the industry standard classification system used in the European Union.

22/9/15 - Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme - Case Studies published
ETG’s Domestic Measures Working Group - in collaboration with the Environment Agency - has now published two case studies regarding compliance with the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS). It is hoped that the case studies will assist organisations to understand how they can comply with the ESOS requirements. To download copies click here

22/6/15 - Harmonising carbon reporting requirements for UK business
ETG has submitted a paper to the UK Government highlighting the plethora of UK energy/carbon reporting schemes currently in operation, and calling on some of the UK reporting schemes to be harmonised. To download a copy of the paper click here

14/4/15 - Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme - case studies
ETG’s Domestic Measures Working Group is liaising with a number of volunteer ETG member companies to produce case studies regarding compliance with the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS). The objective of the case studies will be to show how a number of companies from different backgrounds have complied with ESOS. The Working Group is planning a one page case study on each volunteer company to describe the company and how they have complied with the requirements of ESOS. It is hoped that the process will assist organisations to understand how they can comply with the ESOS requirements. The Working Group is aiming for the case studies to be published during the summer.

6/10/2014 - ETG paper on Dynamic Allocation sent to UK Government
ETG has submitted to Government a paper on the merits of Dynamic Allocation as described by Ecofys.

The paper sets out the different views on the advantages and disadvantages of Dynamic Allocation within the EU ETS, and to identify any outstanding questions about its aims, function and implementation. To download a copy of the paper click here

22/9/14 - UK Vision for EU ETS Phase IV
ETG's EU ETS working group has submitted to Government some observations on the UK Vision for EU ETS Phase IV (published by DECC).

ETG's report also includes comments on a Vivid/Ecofys study on carbon leakage.

16/4/14 - Market Stability Reserve - Ad hoc group discussion paper
ETG's Ad hoc Group on Market Stability Reserve (MSR) has issued a discussion paper recording the advantages and disadvantages the MSR. The MSR proposals were released as part of the ‘2030 package’ on 22nd January 2014. To download the paper click here
